Example salon policies
Cancellation & Rescheduling
Maison Élise Hair Atelier — example production policy
The current demo creates no appointment, so no cancellation fee or deposit applies.
If plans change
Contact the salon as soon as you know you cannot attend. Early notice helps the salon offer the time to another client and find you another suitable appointment.
Notice period
PRODUCTION DECISION REQUIRED.
Example for adaptation:
Please give at least [24 / 48] hours' notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment.
Late cancellation
If a real salon charges a fee or retains a deposit, state the exact notice threshold, amount/treatment, whether it varies by service, how clients are told before booking, and any discretion for emergencies.
Example:
Where less than [X hours] notice is given, we may apply [the booking deposit / $X / X% of the reserved service] because that appointment time was reserved for you. Any charge will be explained before booking is confirmed.
Non-attendance
A salon may require a deposit or prepayment before another booking after repeated non-attendance. Explain and apply any rule clearly.
Running late
Contact the salon. Depending on remaining time, the salon may proceed, adjust the service or reschedule. Any fee should follow the published policy and applicable law.
If the salon cancels
The salon should contact the client as soon as reasonably possible and offer a suitable alternative. Rights concerning prepaid services remain subject to Australian Consumer Law.
Consumer rights
Nothing here excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
